Lasagna Style Tortellini

I've been making this recipe for quite a while now, it's just been a long time since I've made it!  I can't believe I haven't made it for so long.  I really like this recipe, it's easy, quick and yummy!  If you like lasagna, you're going to love this!  The recipe originally called for cheese ravioli, so one day I went to Wal-Mart, to buy it and they were all out!  I didn't know what to do, until I noticed a bag of cheese filled tortellini.  Hmm...I had never used these before, but I thought I'd give it a try.  And, well, it turned out even better, what a nice surprise!  This dish is well worth a try, and it makes a ton.

Spread sauce on the bottom of the baking dish and layer with 1/2 the tortellini.

Top off w/ more sauce, 1/2 the cottage cheese and 2 c. mozzarella cheese.

Add one more layer of tortellini, sauce and cottage cheese.

Finally top off w/ 2 more cups of mozzarella cheese and 1/4 c of Parmesan cheese.

Bake uncovered at 350 for 30-40 minutes, until bubbly.

Let stand for 5-10 minutes and serve.  Yummy!

4 c Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 c Grated Parmesan Cheese

Saute ground beef and onion together and mix in spaghetti sauce.  Spread 1/2 c sauce in an un-greased 9x13 baking dish.  Layer w/ half of the tortellini, 1/2 of the sauce, 1 c of cottage cheese and 2 cups mozzarella cheese.  Repeat layer one more time.  Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese.  Bake uncovered at 350 for 30-40 minutes, until bubbly.  Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.  Enjoy!!

Delicious idea alright. And if one can find tortellini with other fillings to use then all the better!
