Pepper Steak

My sister Bonny told me I had to make this Pepper Steak recipe!  She said it is so easy and it's a good "go-to" recipe b/c she usually has all the ingredients.  She even changes up the meat according to what she has.  She has used chicken, different types of steak and even ground beef!  She said it's all really good, and not to be scared away from the ground beef, it for real is good!  So, I made it and I was very impressed.  It has great flavor, was pretty dang simple to make and yummy.  It reminded me of stir fry.  My hubby thinks I should add broccoli to it b/c it reminds him of the broccoli beef from Panda Express, I think that's a great idea, and I'll try it next time.

Pepper Steak


I used this Beef Round steak b/c it was cheap, chin and plenty of it.

Chop up the meat and all the veggies.  The directions say to cook separate, but I went ahead and cooked the meat and veggies together at the same time.  Next time I'll for sure use my wok, I don't know why I didn't.

Just in case you don't know what Water Chestnuts look like, here they are!  My sister doesn't like these so she keeps these out.  But, I think they're good!

Dissolve beef bullion and sugar in hot water.

Mix bullion water and water chestnuts in and simmer.

Serve over rice.  Yum!

Pepper Steak


Ingredients:

1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1.5 - 2 large green bell peppers, thinly sliced
1.5 large onions, thinly sliced
3/4 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
3/4 cup hot water
1 (8 ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Cut steak into 2-in. x 1/8-in. strips. In a large skillet or wok, brown steak in oil. Add garlic, ginger, salt if desired and pepper; cook 1 minute. Remove meat and keep warm. Add green pepper and onions to skillet; cook and stir for 5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Dissolve bouillon in hot water; add to skillet with water chestnuts. Combine cornstarch, soy sauce, cold water and sugar; stir into skillet. Add meat. Cook and stir until mixture boils; cook and stir 2 minutes more.  Serve over rice.  Enjoy!

Looks yummy but i definately will leave out the water chesnuts too!

Yummm...I love how a lot of your posts start out as my sister bonny said..haha..I should just start a cooking blog..I can't though..I'm too lazy. I can just live vicariously through yours haha.

It is yummy Lindsey. And Bonny, I'm more than happy w/ you living vicariously through mine, you should be the one w/ the blog. You're way more of a creative cook than I am!
