Crafts/Projects

I felt like adding a tab for crafts/projects that I complete.  I know it's not cooking, but it's still something to do in the house!  I'll add more as I do them.
So here they are...

My hubby bought this with intentions for us to refinish and sell, which I had those intentions as well... but once I finished it, I fell in love with it and...

found a perfect spot for it right in my home, where it'll stay!  I refinished it in a light blue and distressed it.  I also re-stained the top and used a wax finish.

My husband found this end table for a steal of a deal, and I refinished it in a light yellow and then distressed it, used a wax finish and added a new handle. I think it turned out great! And I think the lady I sold it to loves it!

Baby "Sprinkle," a shower for those who already have children.  (If you have any questions about what something is, just ask!)

I finally got around to decorating my boy's/guest bathroom.  I was given a lot of old, ugly, wooden frames and decided to paint, distress and stain them to match the color scheme in their b-room.  Here's how they turned out.  I got the printouts from Pinterest, I'm thinking I might re-do the font.

This frame came w/o glass so I decided to make it a shadow box and decorate and distress an "L" for our last name.

I went off of the shower curtain for the colors.

I made these frames using a tutorial (same time as I made the bench way below), and I turned these into...

This!  My mother-in-law painted the picture, but I painted the frame to go along w/ it.

My mother-in-law also painted this picture and I hung it up in my kitchen.

I gave this away in my 1 year Blogiversary.  I used this tutorial to make it.

I made these throw pillow covers for my mom for Christmas.  I followed this tutorial for the light aqua bow pillow.

A close-up.

This one did not want to take a clear picture.  But I made this pillow with a red felt flower on corduroy fabric for my mom as well.  I used this tutorial.

I was able to get a better picture the next day, on my kitchen floor, in daylight!

This year I decided to put together my boy's costumes (I've always used hand-me-downs from my sister).  I finally decided on Bert and Ernie (for those of you who don't know, their from Sesame Street).

Ernie, complete w/ a clown nose, orange face paint, lots and lots of gel and hairspray, black hair spray paint, Kid2Kid sweater, orange stretchy gloves, rolled up jeans, and tennis shoes.

Bert complete w/ a yellow beanie cap w/ yarn woven through for his hair and unibrow, yellow face paint, clown nose painted orange, Kid2Kid sweater, yellow stretchy gloves, khakis, and dress shoes.  One thing I would've changed would have been to make the unibrow right at the tip of the hat instead of a little above.

1st pillow: I used the tutorial from 5 Days of Favorite Projects but decided to hem the ruffles prior to starting suggested by The House of Smiths. (I don't have a ruffle foot so I didn't follow her tutorial past that.)  2nd pillow: I used the tutorial from Crazy Wonderful to make these 9 rosettes.  3rd pillow:  I used the tutorial from Trey & Lucy.

I made the backs envelope closures for the covers.  I think they turned out pretty good :)

I made these fabric flowers, you can use this tutorial.

I found looong curtains at Ikea and turned them into these...
I decided I could make curtains for the middle window and little ones that still match for the sides.  I measured the windows, measured the fabric and cut. Then I hemmed the bottoms of each panel and tops of the smaller panels. I then cut the tabs in half at the top of the curtains and used them for the shorter panels. I then sewed them on and sewed the cut tabs back down. (Does this make any sense at all?) Oh, there's still extra fabric left over! They were that long!

Jewelry Holder: I got this framed cork board from Hobby Lobby while everything was 50% off, I forgot to take a picture of it w/o the fabric. I then unscrewed the back off, hot glued the fabric to the cork and then screwed it back in. then put push pins in all over and hung my jewelry from it. I finally have somewhere to put my jewelry!!! It's like a piece of art too.

Dave and Lisa (my brother-in-law and wife) gave me the table, I painted it black and found the chairs and bench (which were plain wood) and painted them red.  This is kid's size, perfect for my boys.
